Overview

Sha Ba Banting is a humble Chinese eatery nestled in the quiet neighborhood of Taman Seri, Banting. Located at 10, Jalan Bunga Pekan 1, this restaurant exudes a homely and welcoming vibe typical of traditional Malaysian-Chinese culinary spots. The ambiance is simple yet clean, with attentive service that creates an inviting environment for both locals and visitors seeking authentic comfort food.

The brand’s specialty lies in its Sha Ba (刹肉), a unique pork and bitter gourd soup that blends the natural bitterness of the gourd with tender pork meat, creating a balanced and healthy broth free from overwhelming herbal notes. This signature dish is often praised for its subtle layers of flavor—comforting yet light on the palate, ideal for those who prefer milder tastes in their soups.

Alongside the Sha Ba, the menu highlights include fried lady fingers (羊角豆) that are freshly chopped, soft, and chewable, seasoned just right with a hint of sesame oil to avoid overpowering saltiness. This attention to simplicity and freshness resonates throughout the dishes, emphasizing taste and texture over complexity.

Another standout is the classic clear pork soup (大葱蛋) which is reminiscent of home-cooked meals, offering a soothing and nourishing option with a variety of pork cuts. The option to include pork internals adds dimension for those looking for a heartier experience. Unlike the typical herbal bak kut teh, Sha Ba Banting’s take on pork soup is light, clear, and evocative of traditional comfort food, earning appreciation from diners who enjoy uncomplicated but flavourful broths.

Sha Ba Banting caters especially well to small groups and families looking for a relaxed brunch or dinner spot. The portion sizes are sufficient to share, and the peaceful atmosphere supports a casual dining experience without the usual rush. The restaurant does observe a lunch break, reopening for dinner at 5pm, making it a reliable choice for either meal.

For health-conscious diners and those who appreciate authentic, unpretentious Malaysian Chinese cuisine, Sha Ba Banting offers a distinctive experience. It’s a place where the emphasis on freshness, genuine flavors, and clear broths creates a satisfying and memorable meal reflective of local tastes.

Love the freshly chopped, soft texture, chewable lady fingers. It was well cooked, not over salty with mild sesame oil. The dish ordered was pork soup (without any internal pork organs) It was soft tender and delicious. The aroma of the soup wasn't too herbal for those who prefer mild taste type. Two person portion was enough to fill up 4 small eater cravings. Great service during PPN2. Stay well. (SHA BA BAH KUT TEH SHIFTED BESIDES Doraemon Food Court)

The restsurant hygiene is good here. Ordered Shaba (刹肉) & bak kut teh for 2pax which is the white and black in the pic. Shaba is the recommended dish in restaurant, I normally don't like eating gourd due to the bitterness, but it's acceptable for me here. Soup got the mixture of pork and gourd which is great. As of the bak kut teh is just taste normal and really not recommended especially for those bkt lover.

Decent brunch spot in Banting, a homely and friendly place. Limited menu though. Clear pork soup is simple and comforting, with a good variety of meat inside. It’s possible to add pork internals if you’re keen. Fried lady finger is just right. Ladyboss is very patient and attentive. They open for dinner at 5pm (after a lunch break) these days.

Was on the way to Bagan Lalang for a short getaway on Labor Day. Dropped by to try. we ordered 2 different soup bases, but it tasted about the same for me. Lol. Even though it states usually bkt herbal soup but don't expect the same. Unlike bkt, the soup tasted like clear meat soup your get from kueh tiao soup 粿条汤. it's like a bowl of home cook by your granny type of dishes. homey and healthy style. Worth trying if you have not.
